I think Algebraic Geometry is too broad a subject to choose only one book. But my personal choices for the BEST BOOKS are. UNDERGRADUATE: Beltrametti et al. "Lectures on Curves, Surfaces and Projective Varieties" which starts from the very beginning with a classical geometric style. Very complete (proves Riemann-Roch for curves in an easy language) and concrete in classic constructions needed. The book under review is a thorough exposition of the foundations, basic notions, and methods of logarithmic algebraic geometry. The book gathers and systematizes results that before were dispersed in the literature in research articles or preprints. Chapter I is an example of how thorough and systematic the book is. This book is an honors-level geometry textbook with accompanying video captures of lessons being taught. In this version, the video captured lectures are embedded within the book. There are 8 chapters: 1. Building Blocks of Geometry 2. The Tools of Geometry 3. The Foundations of Geometry 4. The Circle 5. Triangles 6. Quadrilaterals 7. Polygons.
Lectures on Discrete and Polyhedral Geometry by Igor Pak - UCLA This book is aimed to be an introduction to some of our favorite parts of the subject, covering some familiar and popular topics as well as some old, forgotten, sometimes obscure, and at times very recent and exciting results. Volume 2 focuses on notes for lectures on the foundations of the mathematical sciences held by Hilbert in the period They document Hilbert’s first engagement with ‘impossibility’ proofs; his early attempts to formulate and address the problem of consistency, first dealt with in his work on geometry in the s; his engagement with foundational problems raised by the work of. Lectures on Fundamental Concepts of Algebra and Geometry by John Wesley Young. Publisher: Macmillan and co. Number of pages: Description: The following lectures contain an elementary account of the logical foundations of algebra and geometry, elementary, in the sense that the technical mathematical equipment presupposed on the part of the reader has been reduced to a minimum.
